Plastic Bottle Recycling Success!
Quarryplan were formally appointed by Quinn Packaging in January 2010 to submit a planning application for a Mixed Plastic Bottle Recycling Facility at their Scotchtown Industrial complex near Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan.
This followed on closely from their success in obtaining planning permission for the Quinn Cement Facility, at the same location, to be altered in order that the calciner can accept a upto 55% recycled fuel.
The proposed recycling plant will provide the North of Ireland with the first facility of this type and will have a capacity to recycle some 45,000 tonnes of plastic bottles annually.
The application submitted in March of this year received no objections and Cavan County Council's decision in April 2010 to grant consent, was formally issued on the 11 June 2010.
The construction of this plant will bring the Quinn Group closer to an integrated waste management system, by providing synergies with both Quinn Environmental and Quinn Packaging, by providing a recycled raw feed for packaging manufacture whilst integrating within the environmental business’ recycling strategy.
